A profound thinker, a logic reasoner, a close student and am up right honest man that never stooped to ado a wrong, but who knew the right and knowing dare maintain. He grew to manhood at Moulton, and about the year 1846 was elected sheriff which office he filled three years, after which he engaged in steamboating on the Tennessee river. Borne by his faithful men to an ambulance, he was carried to Richmond, and there lingering in the agonies of expiring nature for two days, he breathed prayers for his family and country, and yielded up his pure and heroic spirit to the God who gave it.
